Redmi Note 7 Pro Review

Display –

The Redmi Note 7 Pro features a 6.3-inch IPS LCD LTPS panel. It has a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. The colors on the display look natural, not boosted. Brightness levels and viewing angles are fine too. The Redmi Note 7 Pro comes with Widevine Certification. It means that you can enjoy HD content on Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. ut actually, I couldn’t find any HD streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime, this means that there is one more level before Redmi Note 7 Pro can actually stream in HD. The Dewdrop notch is barely intrusive. But if you want, you can also switch off the notch in settings. Overall the display looks fine.

If you are looking for a great multimedia performance from your device, the Galaxy M30, Galaxy A30, or the Galaxy A50 are better because of AMOLED panels and HD playback from streaming devices.

Performance and Battery Life –

The Redmi Note 7 Pro comes with a new Snapdragon 675 SoC. It is fairly a powerful CPU but the GPU is not Top in class. It shows in the gaming performance since we have tested it on two of the most popular games – Asphalt 9 and PUBG, there were lags here and there in the default settings, i.e. High Graphic settings.

The temperature of the phone also shoots up to 45-degrees C when stressing the SoC with gaming or recording 4K videos. But for day-to-day performance, you will really gonna enjoy using the phone.

Coming to the battery, the Redmi Note 7 Pro has got a 4000 mAh battery, most of the Xiaomi phones have the same capacity battery. Most of the previous Redmi users must be familiar with the battery performance of the phone. It will give you around 6hrs of the screen on time, on moderate use. You can easily keep going the phone for more than a day. Battery saver options are also available.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro also gets Quick Charge 4.0, but you have to buy a QC 4.0 charger separately. The phone comes with a standard 10 Watt charger, which takes around 2hrs and 20 minutes to fully charge the device, from 0-100.

Camera –

To start with, Redmi Note 7 Pro features a 48-megapixels Sony IMX 586 rear camera sensor with a 5-megapixels depth. The Chinese variant has a 48-megapixels GM1 sensor. The Redmi Note 7 Pro does an excellent job when it comes to delivering some crisp and well-detailed photos.

The rear camera does a capable job in broad daylight, and it was quite fast to focus on the macro subject without any trouble. The macro shots came out to be well-detailed and color reproduction was also good and natural. The phone delivers a high dynamic range and the colors come out to be really punchy.

The camera does a decent job in low light conditions. The night mode does a good job, though the color accuracy isn’t the best. Overall, the performance in low light conditions is good and pictures came out to be well- detailed and noises are less if we compare it with the competition. Moving on to the other aspects, the portrait mode works fine and the picture looks natural and edge detection was also up to the mark.

One thing to note is that the phone by default takes 12-megapixel photos, and the company is using pixel binning technology to enhance the details of the images. However, you can still take 48-megapixel shots, by enabling it in the settings.

The difference between the 48MP and 12 MP shots can’t be noticed with naked eyes. But when you zoom-in the images, you can clearly notice the difference between the images. The 48MP shots have more details in them as compared to 12Mp shots. But 48MP shots were a bit dull than 12MP shots.

Talking about the 13-megapixels front-facing shooter, it does a decent job in daylight, but it was average in low lighting conditions. Portrait mode works fine with a front-facing camera as well. The blur looks natural and edge detection is also decent.
