WhatsApp on Tuesday announced a bunch of new features that are coming to WhatsApp for Android, iPhone, KaiOS, and Web versions. Features like Animated Stickers and QR Codes along with an improved Group Video Calling functionality are making their way to the Android and the iPhone WhatsApp users over the coming weeks.
The Facebook-owned chat app is finally receiving Dark Mode for the Web version of the app. Additionally, the WhatsApp for Jio Phone users will also be getting Status support in India.
WhatsApp New Features
WhatsApp will soon be rolling out several new features for its users. The company has announced the new QR code system, to make it easier for users to add a new contact. With the new QR Code feature, users will be able to scan a QR code from another user to quickly add them to their contacts.
“Soon when you meet someone new, you will be able to scan their QR code to add them to your contacts. No more tapping in their digits one at a time,” the company said in a statement.
WhatsApp increased the maximum number of WhatsApp video call participants to eight people back in April this year. WhatsApp users can now press and hold on a participant to maximize their video to full screen. Whatsapp has also added a video icon in group chats, which will enable groups with less than eight users to start a video call easily with a single tap.
WhatsApp users will soon be able to communicate with new Animated Stickers. WhatsApp also announced the Dark Mode for the WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp desktop app. We saw the Dark Mode first on the WhatsApp for Android and iPhone back in March this year.
Notably, KaiOS users will soon be able to update WhatsApp status. This means that Jio phone users and other KaiOS users in India will be able to share updates via WhatsApp Status that is limited for only 24 hours.
The main focus of the Whatsapp is still to provide private, reliable communication to its over 2 billion worldwide users.
All the new features that are coming to WhatsApp are expected to reach users “over the next few weeks.”
