Oneplus in an online event on Tuesday unveiled the Oneplus 8 along with the Oneplus 8 Pro in the country. The Oneplus 8 and the 8 Pro are the successors of the Oneplus 7T and the 7T Pro, and both the new smartphones come with a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. The latest offerings from Oneplus come with 5G support, a Hole-Punch display and up to 12GB of RAM. Talking about the major differences, the Oneplus 8 Pro features a Quad-camera setup and comes with Warp Charge 30 Wireless support, whereas the Oneplus 8 comes with a triple-camera setup and the Warp Charge 30 Wireless is also missing. The Oneplus 8 Pro also comes with an IP-68 dust and water resistance certification, a first for the brand.
Oneplus 8 Pro Features and Specifications
The Oneplus 8 Pro features a 6.78-inch QHD+ (1440×3168 pixels) Fluid AMOLED display along with up to 120Hz refresh rate, 19.8:9 aspect ratio, and a 3D Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It also features a 240Hz touch sampling rate and a peak brightness of 1300 nits. It also features a 10-bit color panel and an HDR10+ rating. OnePlus at the launch event said it has been awarded an A+ rating by DisplayMate, breaking 13 records.
The Oneplus 8 Pro is powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, coupled with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.0 storage or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. The Oneplus 8 Pro comes with an upgraded Haptic Vibration engine that is touted to deliver 11 percent more powerful vibrating effects over what was available on the previous-generation OnePlus flagship. The smartphone also packs a 4510mAh battery that supports Warp Charge 30T (5V/ 6A) and Warp Charge 30 Wireless, apart from reverse wireless charging. The Oneplus 8 Pro runs on Android 10 out-of-the-box with Oxygen OS on top.
The Oneplus 8 Pro comes with a Quad-camera setup that houses a 48-megapixel Sony IMX689 primary sensor along with an f/1.78 lens that has optical image stabilization (OIS) and electronic image stabilization (EIS) support. There’s an 8-megapixel secondary sensor that has an f/2.44 telephoto lens and OIS support, paired with a 48-megapixel tertiary sensor that includes an f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle lens. The last sensor is a 5-megapixel “Color Filter” camera sensor that will bring artistic lighting effects and filters, along with an f/2.4 lens. The smartphone also supports 4K video recording at 30/ 60fps. OnePlus 8 Pro has a 16-megapixel Sony IMX471 sensor at the front along with an f/2.45 lens and 1.0-micron pixel size.
Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. Sensors on the phone include an accelerometer, ambient light, gyroscope, flicker detect sensor, front RGB sensor, laser sensor, magnetometer, and a proximity sensor. There is also an in-display fingerprint sensor. Besides, the phone measures 165.3×74.35×8.5mm and weigh 199 grams.

The Oneplus 8 comes with a 6.55-inch full-HD+ (1080×2400 pixels) Fluid AMOLED display that has up to 90Hz refresh rate, 20:9 aspect ratio, and a 3D Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The smartphone comes with a Hole-Punch display which one of the best displays we have ever seen. The Oneplus 8 runs on Android 10 out-of-the-box with Oxygen OS on top of it.

Talking about the cameras, the Oneplus 8 features a triple-camera setup, with a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 primary sensor with an f/1.75 lens, 2-megapixel secondary sensor with an f/2.4 macro lens, and a 16-megapixel tertiary sensor with an f/2.2 lens. Unlike its elder sibling, the Oneplus 8n skims on a 5-megapixel “Color Filter” camera sensor which is there on Oneplus 8 Pro. The smartphone is also capable of recording videos in 4K at 30/60fps. For great selfies, there’s a 16-megapixel Sony IMX471 sensor with an f/2.45 lens.
Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. Sensors onboard include an accelerometer, ambient light, gyroscope, magnetometer, and a proximity sensor. The phone also has an in-display fingerprint sensor. The phone measures 160.2×72.9×8.0mm and weigh 180 grams.
Oneplus 8 and Oneplus 8 Pro Price and Availability
The Oneplus 8 Pro comes with a price tag of $899 (roughly Rs. 68,400) for the base 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage variant and $999 (roughly Rs. 76,000) for the top-end 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage variant. The phone will be available in three color variants – Glacial Green, Onyx Black, and Ultramarine Blue where the Ultramarine Blue will only be available for 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The Oneplus 8 Pro Pre-orders starts today, and the phone will start to ship from April 29th. The phone will available for purchase starting April 21 in the UK (and other European regions). Indian pricing of the Oneplus 8 Pro has not been revealed yet, but Oneplus will soon reveal the pricing and availability of the smartphone in the country.
The Price of Oneplus 8 is set at $699 (roughly Rs. 53,200) for the base 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage variant whereas the top-end 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage variant 8 priced at $799 (roughly Rs. 60,800). The phone will be available in Glacial Green and Interstellar Glow (only 12GB+256GB) color options.
At the event, two more products were also announced – The Oneplus Bullets Wireless Z earphones and the Oneplus Warp Charge 30 Wireless. The Oneplus bullets Wireless Z are priced at $49.95 (roughly Rs. 3,800), whereas the Oneplus Warp Charge 30 Wireless is priced at $69.95 (roughly Rs. 5,300).
